The Lady of Burma

Aung San Suu Kyi, Nobel Peace Laureate and leader of the National League for Democracy, has been kept under house arrest by Burma's military dictatorship for twelve of the last eighteen years.

The Lady of Burma is a powerful new stage play by Richard Shannon that tells the story of her life and her people's struggle for democracy and freedom. It had its international premiere at a special gala fundraising performance at The Old Vic, London, in November 2006. It travelled to the Edinburgh Festival in summer 2007 and enjoyed a very successful run at Riverside Studios before starting a UK tour in April 2008.

Now it is now also available as a radio play on audio CD. Adapted and directed by the author, with Liana Gould as Aung San Suu Kyi.
